Working together in our community: Promoting Supportive Conversation to Prevent Suicide

Our event held on September 27 at AGM University Metro Orlando campus " Working together in our community: Promoting Supportive Conversation to Prevent Suicide”, was a great success since students, professors, practice centers, and community members had the opportunity to discuss how to prevent suicide in our community, learn how to respond to those in crisis and raise awareness how suicide may impact anyone in our community.

This event was organized by the Social Work and Psychology programs of our Metro Orlando Campus and was provided not only by excellent professors from AGM university, who have extensive expertise in the subject, but also by representatives from Orlando VA Medical Center and Hispanic Family Counseling members of our community. This event also offered tables with community resources from community agencies such as Mental Health Association of Central Florida, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Ellie Mental Health, Hispanic Family Counseling Inc, and Veteran Crisis Line that provided students with useful information about resources available in our community to prevent suicide and services available for mental health needs.
