UAGM Joins the Orlando Magic on the First NBA Partnership in Puerto Rico

Univerisidad Ana G. Méndez (UAGM, Puerto Rico)  formalized an agreement with the Orlando Magic to expand the partnership that both organizations have maintained for the past five years from Central Florida to include the Puerto Rican market, a first for any NBA team.

During the signing of the agreement, José F. Méndez Méndez, president of UAGM, said that the institution "has stood out throughout its history not only for its commitment to academic excellence but also for the great importance of its sports teams. Our partnership with the Orlando Magic creates the perfect fit to continue to build pride in the university both in the classroom and through our athletics. Through this first-of-its-kind marketing partnership, we reaffirm our institution's commitment to providing exciting opportunities for our students and basketball fans throughout Puerto Rico."

Some of the opportunities and promotions to celebrate the expansion of this partnership include a Magic basketball camp at UAGM's Cupey Campus along with an in-market promotion offering a trip for two to Orlando to see a Magic game during the 2023- 24 season.

"The Orlando Magic is thrilled to extend our partnership with Ana G. Mendez University to include the great fans in Puerto Rico," said Magic Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships J.T. McWalters. "With the NBA opening up the international marketing rights program in Puerto Rico, it presented a perfect opportunity to reach a growing fan base and expand the Orlando market. Our great partnership with Ana G. Mendez University over the past five years made this the ideal place to expand our efforts into that market, and we are excited to join and bring new opportunities to all of our Puerto Rican fans."

Other aspects of the partnership include an increased UAGM presence at Magic home games, Magic's Latino Night support partner, branded social media campaign targeting Puerto Rico, and rights to use Magic's trademarks and logo in the Puerto Rican market.
